COMMENT: Before the trial began, Mr. Allison told us that to a great extent the trial depended on the testimony of Ms. Lubbers. He said that if the jury believed her, we would get a conviction, if not, Patricia would most likely go free. Ms. Lubbers was arrested on the same day as Patricia and, according to the arresting officers, it was immediately obvious that she wanted to talk. Mr. Allison wrote a plea-bargain letter granting immunity to anyone who would provide testimony against the person who killed Michael Christopher MacCallum. Ultimately, Ms. Lubbers accepted immunity and began talking. She pled guilty to felony accessory after the fact (maximum three years in prison) and was sentenced to 16 months in the Siskiyou County Jail. To get that deal, she signed an agreement that she would testify truthfully at the preliminary hearing, which took place on January 31 and February 1, 2013. She served just eight months of her sentence and was released in early August 2013, because of good behavior.
Here are two pictures that Ms. Lubbers posted to her Facebook page just after getting out of jail, with her and her children sticking their tongues out at the camera. As one of the victims of this terrible crime, it is hard to not take these pictures personally. Or perhaps she is sticking out her tongue at Patricia and her family. Either way, this is a woman who literally got away with murder.

On the witness stand, Ms. Lubbers appeared weak and timid, but she stood up well to the questions of Mr. Allison and Mr. Duncan's cross examination. She misspoke herself quite a few times regarding places and dates and times, which apparently she does not keep track of very well.
Ms. Lubbers said that she was born on December 14, 1984, and was 28 years old at the time of her testimony. She lives at 2545 Howard Ave. in Medford. At the time of the murder, she was living at 613 Newtown St., also in Medford. She and her husband were separated in 2012 and, at the time of her testimony, were in the process of getting a divorce. She has two little girls, who are in the custody of her ex-husband, and she lives on government assistance.Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia is her ex-step sister, that her mother was married to Patricia's father. Although she and Patricia never lived in the same house together they spent time together during their respective visitations. She and Patricia called each other sister. They became closer when Patricia moved back to Medford from Texas.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia has two children. One is an older boy whose father is Jordan Kohut who was never in the picture. She said that Patricia also has a 4-year-old daughter whose father was Chris MacCallum. She said that Patricia's daughter was born after Chris and Patricia's marriage and that she is four years old, now, so she must have been born in 2010 (she was born in 2009).
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia returned to Medford from the army in 2012. Mr. Allison asked if Ms. Lubbers had ever told anyone that it was 2011 and she said maybe she had. Mr. Allison asked if Ms. Lubbers kept a journal, diary, or calendar and she said no, she didn't. She also said that she does not own a car and doesn't drive.Ms. Lubbers said that Chris treated both of Patricia's children like his own. She said that he treated Patricia very well. That he would hold her hand and cuddle and that he wanted to be with her. She went on to say that in 2012, Patricia didn't welcome or want physical affection from Chris. Chris would do anything to keep Patricia happy; he worked two jobs and gave her money, both before and after they were reconciled on September 7, 2012. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers what Patricia did to keep Chris happy and she replied, nothing. Mr. Allison asked if Patricia had described an adult relationship between her and Chris. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia had, but that she didn't like it and didn't want to. She said that Patricia was emotionless, cold toward Chris, but not toward other men. Mr. Allison asked if she had a love or sex interest in Chris and Ms. Lubbers said no, she didn't. She said that during 2012, Chris was trying just about anything possible to take care of the family.
Ms. Lubbers described Jeremiah Hills as Patricia's guy on the side and that he was into BSD. (She didn't get the initials right and appeared to be uncomfortable even saying them.) She said that Jeremiah was in Patricia's life until the reconciliation. Mr. Allison asked if Ms. Lubbers had a love or sex interest in Jeremiah and she said no, she didn't.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia had told her that she and Jeremiah had a dom/sub relationship, that they had sex, and that he was dominant. She said that Patricia also told her that she wore a dog collar. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia told her that she didn't like the dom/sub relationship, it was too much for her. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia never expressed fear of Jeremiah and never said anything about role-playing games.
Mr. Allison pointed to Detective Jeff Moser and asked Ms. Lubbers if she remembered him. She said that Detective Moser was there the day she was arrested. She also said that Detective Morlet came into the interview room for five to ten minutes and that Investigator Perrin also interviewed her that night, about 2:30 in the morning. Ms. Lubbers said that she had been interviewed twice previous to being arrested on December 7, 2012.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers when Chris moved back in with Patricia. She said that she remembered because it was around one of the children's birthdays. Then she got confused about whether it was Eric's (March) or Cora's (October). Mr. Allison showed her a transcript of her interview with Investigator Perrin on December 7, 2012 in order to refresh her memory. After reading the transcript, Mr. Allison took it back from her and Ms. Lubbers said that Chris had moved back in with Patricia in September 2012, maybe in the middle of the month.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if she had gone with Patricia when she went to the army and she said no, she had not. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia had told her that she was stationed in Texas. During that time, the children were with Chris in Texas. She said that Patricia moved back to Medford with the children and moved in with her mother. She said that Patricia worked for a little while when she returned home, but she couldn't remember where or for how long and that Patricia was receiving TANF (Temporary Aid to Needy Families; i.e., welfare). Ms. Lubbers said that Chris was still in Texas at the time. Mr. Allison asked if she had visited him in Texas and Ms. Lubbers said no, she hadn't.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia told her that Chris had followed her back to Oregon to try to make things work. She said that Patricia complained that Chris wasn't paying enough, that he was too pushy, he was being obsessive, he wouldn't let her do things on her own so she would have to sneak around, and that he was jealous. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia was talking to guys. Patricia dated a firefighter, but he got too serious and she broke it off. Patricia also told Ms. Lubbers about Jeremiah Hills. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia doesn't stay with men very long.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers when she first saw Chris with Patricia in 2012. She said that she didn't remember when Chris came back to Oregon. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia told her that she wanted to stay separated, but that Chris didn't like it. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers how often would Patricia bring up Chris being pushy and Patricia wanting to separate and she said that Patricia would bring it up every time they met and that Patricia was frustrated and angry.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if Patricia had ever told her that she wanted Chris dead. Ms. Lubbers said yes, but only in person. She said that Patricia never said that in a text message, in writing, or over the telephone. Patricia told her that she didn't want any evidence. Ms. Lubbers said that the first such conversation took place in September at Ms. Lubbers' mother-in-law's house. She said that they were sitting on the back porch, no one else was present and there were no alcohol or drugs involved. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia appeared to be very serious. Patricia said that she wanted to make it look like an accident, but gave no further explanation during that first meeting.
Ms. Lubbers said that the second conversation was at Patricia's house. Again, no one else was present and there were no alcohol or drugs involved. She said that Patricia appeared to be very serious. She said that they talked about a place where it could happen and that it would be a good idea to find one, but not much else.
Ms. Lubbers said that during their third conversation no one else was present and no alcohol or drugs were involved. Ms. Lubbers said that she told Patricia about a spot out in Applegate that Ms. Lubbers had been to with her ex-husband. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia didn't know the area at all and that she said, let's go check it out.
Ms. Lubbers said that a couple of weeks later they went to the campsite in Patricia's car with Ms. Lubbers, her two girls, Patricia, and Patricia's two children. Ms. Lubbers said that while the children played, Patricia found an area across the creek where she thought they could cause an accident. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia told her that they could get him drunk enough so he would lean over and fall.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if Patricia had ever told her about Chris' martial arts skills and she said no, she hadn't, but that she did know that Chris took martial arts.
Mr. Allison showed Ms. Lubbers three photographs of the campsite which were taken during the reenactment on May 15, 2013. Ms. Lubbers identified the river and rocks on the other side and identified herself in the picture pointing to them.
Ms. Lubbers said that on the way home the children were all asleep so they talked about getting Chris drunk and hoping that he would fall. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia told her that she would take Chris to the campsite the following day, but later told her that she did take him out to the campsite.
Ms. Lubbers said that a couple of weeks after the trip to the campsite she and Patricia had another conversation. As before, no one else was present. Ms. Lubbers said that they decided they would go camping in early November. She said that Patricia had a tent and an LED lantern that could be used as a flashlight and that Ms. Lubbers' husband's cousin, Kris Lubbers, had cots and sleeping bags. Mr. Allison showed Ms. Lubbers exhibit #43 and she verified that it is the empty box that belonged to the lantern.
In early November, Kris Lubbers drove out to the campsite along the Applegate River with Ms. Lubbers and they set up the tent with the cots and sleeping bags. Chris and Patricia were supposed to come at a later time and, when they did, Kris Lubbers would return home leaving Chris, Patricia, and Amber alone at the campsite. Chris and Patricia never arrived, so Kris and Amber packed up the camping equipment and returned home. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if Kris Lubbers knew about the conspiracy to kill Chris MacCallum and she said no, he did not. Ms. Lubbers said that Kris' only role was to help her set up the tent and leave.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia was serious every time they discussed killing Chris, but that she didn't take it so seriously and she hoped that Patricia wouldn't. She said that she tried to talk Patricia out of it at the end and that she didn't believe Patricia would actually kill him. Ms. Lubbers was crying at this point in her testimony and couldn't continue. Mr. Allison asked for a recess and Judge Dixon agreed.
During the break, because Ms. Lubbers seemed confused about dates during her testimony, Mr. Allison asked her to make a list of these events, in the order they happened, on a flip chart near the witness stand. The chart showed:
- Back porch, mother-in-law's
- Patricia's house
- Ms. Lubbers didn't remember where--told Patricia about the campsite
- Patricia, Amber, and their children went to the campsite
- Chris and Patricia went to the campsite
- Conversation about tying Chris up with rope
- Amber and Kris Lubbers set up camp, but Chris and Patricia didn't show
Mr. Allison asked about the plan to kill Chris. Ms. Lubbers said that at the time of the camping trip with her and Kris Lubbers, they only had one plan: to get Chris drunk enough to fall into the river. She said that a couple of days before November 16, 2012, she and Patricia had another conversation. She said that no one else was present but that she couldn't remember where the conversation took place. Ms. Lubbers said that during that conversation, Patricia brought up another plan: to wrap string or rope around Chris so that once he crossed the river he could use the rope to help Patricia across. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia's plan was to tell Chris to tie one end of the rope to a tree and the other to himself and ask him to go across the river above the falls. As he was crossing the river, they would pull on the rope and make him fall into the falls.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers about these plans and she said that later, after she was arrested, she began calling these two plans Plan A (get Chris drunk) and Plan B (tie him up and pull on the rope). Ms. Lubbers said that after this conversation she and Patricia talked a few more times and went over the plans, but didn't come up with any new plans. They chose the date of November 16, 2012, because Chris had time off.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers why Patricia wanted to kill Chris. She said it was because of the kids, which were a big part of her life, and because of the money. She said that Chris didn't have much money, but Patricia thought that he might have life insurance through his job.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers what her part was in the relationship between Jeremiah Hills and Patricia. She said that she was the go between and that Patricia and Jeremiah would text message using Ms. Lubbers phone because Chris had found text messages between Jeremiah Hills and Patricia on Patricia's phone and had gotten upset.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers how Patricia was after the reconciliation. She said that Patricia was very upset, was not happy at all. She said that Patricia told her that she felt like she had sold her soul to the devil. She also said that Patricia cried a lot because she didn't want Chris to move in.
Next, Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers to describe the events of November 16, 2012. She said that she and her children were staying in a converted garage at Kris Lubbers' home. She woke up with the children and stayed with Kris Lubbers until her ex-husband came and picked up the children. She said that he is a long-haul trucker who is home once or twice a month and that they live separate from each other. She said that Patricia had told her that Patricia's father would watch her children.
Ms. Lubbers said that Chris and Patricia drove in Patricia's car to pick her up. She said that on the way, Chris and Patricia cashed a check and picked up some things. She said that they left her home at noon or noon thirty. She said that they stopped at Food 4 Less and bought firewood, cups, food, and ice, but said that they did not have an ice chest. She said that on the way to the campsite they stopped at a little store, which she thought was just before Jacksonville. (Actually, they stopped at the Ruch Country Store, which is just after Jacksonville.)
Mr. Allison showed Ms. Lubbers exhibit #36, a photograph taken by the security camera at Sherm's Food 4 Less, and she identified it a photograph of her, Chris, and Patricia at the Food 4 Less on November 16, 2012. Mr. Allison also showed her exhibit #176, a photograph taken at the campsite on November 16, 2012, and asked her about the purple shirt she was wearing. Ms. Lubbers said that it was the same purple shirt in both photographs.Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers about how to get to the campsite. She said that you take the Applegate Lake road past the lake. Just beyond where the paved road becomes gravel you enter a parking area and take a sharp left (actually, you take a sharp right), cross over five bridges, and the campground is down a road to the left, marked by a small pyramid of rocks. She said that no one else was there and that they saw no other people at the campsite or in the area.
Ms. Lubbers said that they put up the tent, which was red, brown, and had some silver in it. Mr. Allison asked if that was the same tent that Chris' body was rolled up in and she said yes, it was.
Ms. Lubbers said that they began looking for wood and started drinking, but she wasn't sure which came first. They had bought a small bundle of wood, wrapped in plastic, but it wasn't enough for overnight. She said that they had a fire for about four to five hours and left some wood behind when they left, but she didn't pay attention to how much was left.
Ms. Lubbers said that she, Chris, and Patricia walked down to the waterfall and took some pictures.
(Note: Had their original plan worked--to get Chris drunk and pull him into the river to drown--these pictures would have been used to show the police that Chris and Patricia were getting along and that his drowning was an accident.)
Ms. Lubbers said that they gave Chris a lot of alcohol. She said that Patricia told her that she couldn't get Chris to go across the river so they tried Plan B. Mr. Allison showed Ms. Lubbers exhibit #48 and she identified it as the string (actually, black parachute cord) they used for Plan B. Mr. Allison asked if the cord was also used to wrap Chris up in the tent and she said yes, it was. He also asked if all the cord was used and she said no, it wasn't. Finally he asked about the white ends of the cord and Ms. Lubbers said, that was where it had been cut.
Ms. Lubbers said that they tied the string around Chris and tied the other end to a tree at the top of the hill, which is above the river, between the river and the campsite. She said that all three walked down with the string wrapped around Chris. She said that when Chris crossed the river, she and Patricia did not try to pull on the rope.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if Patricia tried to cross the river and she said no, she didn't. She said that when Chris got across the river he shouted for them to get away from the rope. She said that Patricia dropped the rope and walked away from it. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if she held on to the rope and she said that at first she did, but she dropped it when Chris yelled.
Ms. Lubbers said that when Chris began to come back across the river, there was quite a bit of slack in the rope. She said that Patricia grabbed the rope and pulled it by running alongside the river. Chris fell on the rocks and got his pants wet and then he jumped up and began yelling at Patricia to let go of the rope. He finished crossing the river and told Patricia and her to go up the bank first so they wouldn't be near him. Ms. Lubbers said that at the top, Patricia went about halfway back down and she and Chris began arguing and then they both came up to the top.
Mr. Allison showed Ms. Lubbers exhibit #168, three photographs from the May 15, 2013, reenactment at the campsite, and she described them as follows: 1) the area where Ms. Lubbers is standing in the photograph is where Chris crossed the river; 2) the tree that one end of the string was tied to; and 3) a tree on the other side of the river that Chris went to when he crossed the river. Mr. Allison put up exhibit #20, the large graphic of the campsite, on the bulletin board at the front of the courtroom and asked Ms. Lubbers to take a look at it. She pointed to the blue triangle on the graphic that represented the tent and to the blue line that represented the Applegate River. She added a '1' to indicate the tree that the cord was tied to and a '2' where Chris crossed the river.
Ms. Lubbers said that it then began to rain, so they all went inside the tent and ate dinner. She said that she and Patricia sat on the cots and Chris sat on the sleeping pads. After dinner, Chris fell asleep.
Mr. Allison showed Ms. Lubbers exhibit #165, a picture of the same tent as it was set up for the reenactment on May 15, 2013, and #169, four photographs of the tent and its location taken during the reenactment. She said that the tent in the photograph was identical to the one they used at the campground on November 16, 2012, and pointed to the place where Chris slept, to the right of the entrance, up against the wall of the tent. Mr. Allison asked if she directed the officers where to set up the tent for the reenactment and she said yes, she did and that it was in the same spot that it was on November 16, 2012. She said that the other pictures from the reenactment showed the two cots set up, one in the center of the tent and the other to the left and a sleeping bag on the floor to the right. Ms. Lubbers said that this was how the tent had been set up on November 16, 2012.
Ms. Lubbers said that once it began to rain and they were inside the tent, they didn't pay any attention to the campfire. They made sandwiches and ate them. She said that Chris fell asleep about 6:30 or 7:00 PM. She said that she and Patricia were laying on the cots and Chris was in a sleeping bag to the right. Patricia was in the middle and she was to the left. Ms. Lubbers said that she and Patricia were texting back and forth using her phone. Since there was no cell phone coverage, they would type a message on the phone, show the message to the other, and then delete the message. She said that Patricia was trying to come up with ideas, such as tie Chris up in the sleeping bag and roll him into the water. Ms. Lubbers said that she was trying to stop it. Next they went to talk in the car.
Mr. Allison asked if this was the same car in the same place as during the reenactment on May 15, 2013, and Ms. Lubbers said that it was.
Ms. Lubbers said that she told Patricia that she couldn't do it, but Patricia told her that Chris was not coming home with her. Ms. Lubbers said that they went back and cleaned out the tent and put the cots, their sleeping bags, the chairs, their overnight bags, everything but the tent and what Chris was sleeping in into the back seat of Patricia's car. Then they got back in the car.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia had her firearm with her inside the car. Patricia was in the driver's seat and she was in the passenger seat. They had the LED lantern with them, which was on. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if she had ever used Patricia's gun and she said yes, she had. She said the clip held eight bullets, but that she had not loaded the gun. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia left the car and walked to the tent. She said that the passenger side of the car was facing the tent, so she got out of the car, walked around to the driver's side and crouched down. Ms. Lubbers said that she saw the first shot fired and heard Patricia fire the entire clip.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia came back to the car and asked her for the second clip because she didn't know where it was. Ms. Lubbers said that she got the second clip from the center console of Patricia's car. She said that Patricia took the second clip, went inside the tent, and fired the entire second clip. Ms. Lubbers said that as Patricia walked toward the tent the second time, she went back around to the other side of the car and ducked down again. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if she could see into the tent and she said no, she couldn't. He asked her if she could hear any sounds coming from the tent and she said no, she could not.
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia came back to the car and said that she needed her help, that she couldn't do it without her. Patricia told her she couldn't move him. Ms. Lubbers said that she told Patricia that she couldn't and Patricia said again that she needed her help. Ms. Lubbers said she finally agreed to help. She said that Patricia went into the tent and took Chris' pants, wallet, and coat. They broke the tent poles and put one in the tent and the other in the fire pit. They took the tent pegs and tossed them around, some in the fire pit. They rolled Chris up in the tent and tied it up with the rope. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if there was any movement from inside the tent and she said no, there was not. Ms. Lubbers said that they found that the rolled-up tent was too heavy to load into the trunk, so they pushed it over a cliff at the edge of the campsite. Ms. Lubbers said that when they got home, she took Chris' coat and her own purple shirt to the Salvation Army in Medford. (Later in her testimony, Ms. Lubbers corrected herself and said that she had taken them to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Medford, where Bonnie Mortensen subsequently found them.)
Mr. Allison replayed the video that was made during the reenactment on May 15, 2013. This time Ms. Lubbers narrated the video, pointing out:
- The tent with its cots and sleeping bags
- The waterfall where Plan A was to be carried out
- The area above the falls where Chris came back across the river, the rope was pulled, and he fell
- The tree across the river
- The tree on the bank where the rope had been tied
- The position of the parked car as seen from the tent
- The tent as seen from the car
- Ms. Lubbers crouching behind the car
- Ms. Lubbers just outside the tent pointing her finger like a gun, standing at the place where Patricia was when she fired the first clip
- Ms. Lubbers just inside the tent pointing her finger like a gun, standing at the place where Patricia was when she fired the second clip
- The car backed up to the rolled up tent which was clearly too big to fit into the trunk
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers to identify the following items:
#56 The tent stakes and poles
#44 Her purple shirt, found at St. Vincent de Paul
#41 Snow pants
#66 Targets labelled Tricia and Amber from when they went target shooting
#14 A photograph of the fire pit showing the tent stakes, some wood, the tent pole, and Patricia's glove
Ms. Lubbers said that next she helped Patricia down to the waterfall because of her sore foot and Patricia tossed the gun and both clips into the waterfall. Then they left the campsite to go to Patricia's house. Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia showed no emotion on the way home. She said that on the way home Patricia told her that Chris made her have an abortion and that he woke up Eric in the middle of the night and made him take a cold shower. Mr. Allison asked her if Patricia told her why she killed Chris and Ms. Lubbers said no, she didn't.
Ms. Lubbers said that on the way home Patricia told her that they would wait 24 hours and then call in and report Chris missing. Ms. Lubbers said that they practiced their stories some, but not nearly enough. Ms. Lubbers said that after they got home, they got back in the car and went to Jack in the Box at about 12:30 AM to establish an alibi. They left the camping equipment in the car till the next morning.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers what she told the police when they interviewed her before she was arrested. She said that she told the police that she and Patricia were drinking real alcohol, that she and Patricia got cold and couldn't stay any longer, that Chris helped them pack up the car, and that they had left the campsite, leaving Chris there alone.
Ms. Lubbers said that they slept in till 10:00 AM the next morning. She said that she began to clean out the car while Patricia showered and then Patricia helped with the rest of the car. Ms. Lubbers said that they washed their clothes and she took her hiking boots and Chris' jacket and put them in the drop box at the Salvation Army. (Ms. Lubbers would correct this on the following day to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, where Bonnie Mortensen found them.)
Ms. Lubbers said that Patricia told her she was planning to use Chris' insurance for her and the kids. They decided to tell the investigators that they went back to the campsite that morning, but they did not go. Ms. Lubbers said that when investigators came to interview them, Patricia told them that they had left the lantern behind, while she told them that they had brought the lantern home. Ms. Lubbers said that she broke the lantern up, swept up the pieces, and put them in the trash.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers how she felt afterwards. She said that she felt terrible, the same way I feel now. Mr. Allison asked her who the first person was that she told about the murder. She said that she told her cousin, Kris Lubbers, a week or two after, but didn't tell him any details or about the plans. She said that Kris Lubbers was not part of the plan to kill Chris MacCallum.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers about what she told Investigator Perrin when he interviewed her the night of December 7, 2012. She said she told Investigator Perrin about the black rope, where the body was located, that Chris was on the right side of the tent, and that Chris was wearing a t-shirt and boxers.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if she saw Chris' wedding ring during the camping trip. She said that Chris had told her that he had lost his wedding ring. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers what side did you start from when you rolled up the tent and she said Chris' side. Mr. Allison asked her what she had told Investigator Perrin about that and she said she told him the same thing.
Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers about the color of Patricia's gun and she said that it was black. He asked her why they were wearing gloves when they rolled up the tent and she said they didn't want to leave any fingerprints. Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers about the shell casings and she said that they picked them up and tossed them in the river. Mr. Allison asked her if they had washed the sleeping bags and she said no, they hadn't. Finally, Mr. Allison asked Ms. Lubbers if she saw any vehicles on the road toward Applegate. She said no, she did not.
